In white metal the star of the order of the thistle. In the centre a rectangular tablet with a rope border containing a shield embossed with a lion rampant. Above the shield a torse supporting a dexter hand grasping an arrow, point down. These central components in gilding metal. Beneath the tablet a scroll inscribed Cape Town Highlanders. 75mm by 75mm. To the reverse two copper loops E-W.

This badge worn on the helmet 1902-1920 and the Tam-O’Shanter thereafter. Later examples in chrome.
