RAOC Fire Brigade
An unusual badge, believed worn on overalls by soldiers of the Fire Brigade of the 3rd Base Ammunition Depot, RAOC. It measures 3 inches by 2.5 inches.
Before the creation of the Army Fire Service in 1941 all Ordnance depots organised their own fire brigades. The National Archives lists war diaries for 3 Base Ammunition Depot serving with or in the BEF, Middle East, North Africa, North West Europe and the BAOR but this badge was probably worn in the BEF or Middle East. Comments welcome. Jon |

Jon,
3 BAD later 3 BAPD existed at Bracht in BAOR from 1947 to 1997. Your badge has Germanic looking Fire Brigade symbols and I would think dates from the 1950s to early 1960s and probably worn by Locally Engaged Civilians employed as Firemen on the base. Tim
