Unrecognised KDG title
I wonder if anyone can recognise this shoulder title. Hawley was a SSGT in about 1921 ish and his record does not give too much detail on where and with who he served. I thought this title may be a Yeomanry title that he wore on attachment? One thing's for certain, it is difficult to recognise as an established KDG item! Can anyone help?

KDG mystery title
Hi H
This is a standard two part title I think ie. 1 over DG. However, it is a little difficult to made out, as the angle and shadows thrown make it indistinct. I hope this is of help mate. Rob |

??
Hi Rob
I don't think so Butty.... They stopped wearing the 1 over DG pretty early on in the 1900's and it was replaced by the K over DG with under bar for ORs. By 1920 they were wearing the straight KDG which replaced the straight 1DG used in WWI. This is something different and I'm buggered if i know.... Does anyone think it might be this?? PS off to Deutschland tomorrow back next week...... |

KDG Shoulder Title
Hi Howard
Try a comparison between the photo of the shoulder title worn by the SSgt from L&D and the bottom badge of three in the attached jpegs. For the purists I apologise for the lack of finesse in presenting the evidence by way of jpegs but by left clicking on the images it magnifys them. G |

Further to our chat earlier, I've had another look at this and the real problem is the lighting of the subject, but I'm sure I can see the DG. However, what I thought to be a 1, I think is a K, and you can just see the lower half with aid of magnification. Granted there is no bar, but that said there were quite a few variants made in India without one. This is just my opinion of course, but I don't really think there is any thing unusual going on here, as the continuation of wearing superceeded titles is fairly common. The answer might be to obtain the orginal photo. All the best Rob |
