Default 17th/21st L. officer collar motto question

All,
Did the 17th Lancers officers wear bronze or gilt mottoes on their OSD collars? Am I correct in my thinking that gilt was worn after they became the 17th/21st in 1922 and not before?
Thanks,
CB

Hi CB,

I believe you are correct the 17th Lancers officers wore bronze mottoes on their OSD collars. These were slightly smaller than the standard size motto ,with blade fixings to the rear

If anyone has a identical single orphan for trade please Pm.

Thanks 3748 Hussar. This strengthens my belief that many cavalry regiments began discard bronze collar badges for bright metals on OSD tunics during the interwar period.
I am surprised that your bronze example has blades. Are you positive this is not a cap motto? Even though it may be smaller in size does not always mean it is for collars.
