Thank you John, that suggests the other one is a tropical para wing right?
What era are we talking about, '60-'70 or more modern than that? |

When I was in the CCF in Liverpool in the late 1960s we had a visiting Cadet Training Team Staff Sergeant from the Loyals. In shirt sleeve order he wore the SAS brass wings above his badges of rank on a brassard.

Brass tropical SAS wings
Friends,
I have no reason to doubt the SAS Brass Tropical wings were made to specifications by the MoD. However, I have never seen any photographic evidence the wings have actually been worn. Can anybody on the Forum provide some of that photographic evidence? best regards, Johan Last edited by johanwiegman; 21-12-10 at 04:25 PM. |

Australian Navy wings
Hi,
The wings worn by the Australian Naval Clearance Divers are similar but not identical to the British SAS tropical wings pattern. For example, they have clutches rather than loops. See picture. This appeared in issue 139 of the newsletter of Chute & Dagger UK (the latest issue). You can also find a reference in Anzac Elite. For information on Chute & Dagger UK, please send me an e-mail. best regards, Johan |
