LBHY,
Attached is a photo of mine which I believe is an original. The points that have led me to assume this are:
There are others on the forum who know more about this badge than I do and they can either correct or support some or all of the above information. Last edited by Chrisr; 28-03-09 at 12:57 AM. |

Dave,
Thank you for your comment. Yes, it is a lovely badge - it has a really nice "feel" about it and one of my favourites. Cheers Chris |

Chris cap badge is I think an original. The strengthening bars linking the crown to make it stronger is a fabric mark from Firmin if my memory is right. There is one other type of cap badge which is original, I remember the white metal H is an overlay which is fixed through three small holes on each side of the H brass base. Original OR's cap badges must have a slider. Collar badge has the same shape but is white metal and smaller and is fixed by two lugs N-S. Cheers. J-F Last edited by rubicon; 28-03-09 at 08:42 AM. |

Phil,
I fully endorse Chris's check list "Spot On"! I've put some images of mine on, it's rather shiny, the sweat holes are misaligned and the strengtheners look more rounded than Chris's but I think (hope) it's O.K? Mike, What a cracking S/G example, how or what softwear/method do you use to show both front and back of your badge in the same image? Andy |

Gents,
many thanks for the details and close ups. At least I know what I must look for. It confirms what I thought about mine, just a repro. BTW? what is the average purchage price for such a cap badge? I'd like to know what to expect. |

Alan,
I think that would be more like £25+ from a dealer! Andy |

LBHY,
Lew Shotton has one for 18GBP here. http://freespace.virgin.net/lew.shotton/cavalry.htm I understand he is regarded as a reliable dealer. All I have purchased from him seem OK to me. Cheers Chris |

Here is 3 different types that i have.
one is Firmins 6 sweat holes no strengthening bar. two has 3 sweat holes plus strengthening bar. Three has 4 sweat holes one under the slider at the crown and no strengthening bar. so poss 3 different makers, members opinions welcomed. Malc

23rd hussars
I like this badge but the condition seems almost to good to be true. I also like the reinforcing rods and the braize holes .
