Israeli Airborne Commandos?
Hi,
I think this is Israeli. Does anyone have any views on its level of rarity please? |

Is that the Golani Brigade?

It looks as per the Golani Brigade badge but with the addition of parachute.

I have it as Guerrilla Warfare Qualification badge.
Below is the Golani Bde. Marc

I recall the Golani Bde badges (back circa 1980-ish) having brooch pin fittings, I haven't seen Israeli insignia with screw posts only brooch, clutch pin and lug fittings.

I have a number of IDF badges with screws on the back, including cap badges.

Thanks everyone.
It seems the one I have isn't that common, which is great. I saw the same thing on the Imperial War Museum's website, but am unsure if this makes it any more collectable. https://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/item/object/30067886 |

At the risk of showing my ignorance, why would members of the IDF - a regular army, after all - qualify as 'Guerillas' or even 'Anti-Guerillas' ?

Israeli Airborne Commandos
At risk of being very ignorance here. I know that Israel somehow qualifies as part of Europe for a certain annual song contest, but when did they become part of the British or Commonwealth? I fear a little 'Mission Creep' is coming to the forum.

Stephen,
I hear you. Suppose it could be debated the area that is now Israel was once a British Mandate post WW1. Rather I’m finding the multiple threads on the same badges hard to follow... there’s 2 on the same Egyptian SF badge and 2 on a pair of US wings. Each thread has different questions being asked by the poster and then sometimes follow up questions which have already been answered in the other thread relating to the same badge? Luke |
