Default Northamptonshire Yeomanry

I have a picture of my Grandfather in uniform and I have tried to identify the regiment from his cap badge and the nearest I can find is the Northamptonshire Yeomanry, but their badge has a circle around the logo.
Does anyone recognise this badge, I have tried to contact the museum in Abingdon Park, Northampton, but have had no response

This is the earlier version of the badge, Northants Yeomanry is correct.

Default Northants Yeo

Hi,
The shoulder titles are T/Y/NORTHANTS. This would indicate they were issued prior to 1916. After that date Y/NORTHANTS only was issued. This was reflect the number of men in the 1/1, 2/1 & 3/1 Northants who were not Territorials.

Regards, Stephen.

Many thanks for the information, I visited many web sites and could only find the logo within a circle, so I was uncertain of my original thoughts, but you have confirmed this for me.

Regards

Harry

The badge with the circlet is the (much faked) one worn by the 2nd NY who were a WW2 raised unit. The 1st NY continued to wear the small horse on a imperial blue backing on the RTR black beret.

Your man is much earlier circa WW1.
