Query about dates collar badges were first worn.
Attached is a scan of a member of what, I believe, is the West Yorkshire Regiment. The photo was taken in India prior to WW2. I am wondering if it is possible to date the photo more accurately by establishing when collar dogs were first worn with this type of dress as I seem to have read somewhere that this was around 1923.
Any help greatly appreciated. Peter4447 |

Other Ranks did not wear collar badges on Service Dress between 1902 and 1924. They continued to wear them on full dress, walking out dress etc - though of course fd and wod wasn't really worn after 1914. That said, there were some peculiar rules as far as India goes but only up to 1914 - I DON'T know if collar badges were worn there (probably not, but see other photographs). I also think there is a date for when that particular type of FSH was introduced.

Many thanks for that KLR. I never thought about when the FSH was introduced so another lead for me to follow up.
