Default 17th/21st Lancers

I have this 17th/21st Lancers badge and was wondering if anyone could provide any background to its era of use (and how do you tell this?). I have given the dimensions below if that helps. It is very light in my opinion, could it also be duff?

H40mm W45mm

The lugs are not correct for an issued badge. The 17/21 and now the QRL have been buying metal badges privately for years so types such as yours could have been worn by the regt. Yours has the flaw in the left eye socket seen on many copies.

Judging by the photos, this badge does not look good. As Alan mentioned,
lugs may not have been the specified issue, but as in many other badges, they were obtained and worn nonetheless.
What bothers me is the eye as mentioned, and the very fresh shining reverse.
