Identification needed on Broderick type hat

Could anybody help me please identify this strange hat. It is without a peak and has red piping under the rim. Any information gratefully received.

Please find attached image of a South Shields Borough Police Fireman wearing the cap. Hope this may be of help. (PS of course they were worn by the Royal Marines years ago). Harry
