Default Dorsetshire Regiment officers forage/dress cap

I have this one for a few years and when I got it the S&G badge was missing. They are quite pricey and I have not yet found one to suit my pocket but recently I spotted an early 20th C. OR's bi metal on lugs for a sensible price so I bought it and as the holes all lined up it sits on the cap nicely until I can find the "correct" S&G version. It is made by Herbert Johnson, as so many are in the post WWII period and this cap has by appointment hatters to the king for the reign of George VI.

That's another nice one Jerry and it has that lovely laced trim, I haven't got any like that, I have seen a nice Middlesex with a velvet trim, I'm hankering for one of those

Thanks for sharing. I do enjoy cap threads. Not that I could ever collect them. I can get away with a few Chinese take-away containers of cap badges - but 'a clutter of hats' would I'm sure lead to instant divorce.

Your dress cap will look super when you find a good S&G to replace the OR's. If this one is correct, perhaps something similar will really set it off?

Her indoors is very good about it all and has a few bits & pieces of her own in her study including a relic WWI MKI Brodie as well as a few of my overspill Tommy MKII helmets, including Police, NFS and Warden.

A nice looking badge and correct for the cap I think. All the ones I see are for sale at about £45-50 which is probably correct. I'll probably bite the bullet one day and get one but I am always in hope of finding one cheaper at a boot sale or local antiques center.
