Flashed MKIII helmet
Hello,
This MKIII helmet looks as though it has a post WWII paint job, were helmets flashed post war and if so, is it to the Royal Engineers? Thanks Tony |

Hi Tony, Does the helmet have the screw fastener or the lift the dot type for the liner.
I have a similarly marked Mk III for a major in the RCE.

Yes the liner is fixed with a nut and screw and is dated to the early 50s.
I thought the RCE flash was different, well, after searching online the ones I found had the lines horizontal rather than vertical. I'm pretty much useless when it comes to badges and flashes. Tony |

Sorry, if it is post war it is likely British, not Canadian.

The colour is making me think post WWII, should be brown for 1944/45. If they went back to green for Korea it could be ok, if not I'm wondering if the paint and flash are more recent additions.

MKIII with post war paint and RE flash and from what you say a post war liner.

Jerry, do you think it may have been used in the Korean war or a repaint by someone who once tried to pass it off as WWII? The person selling it doesn't know much about it.

A closeup of the paint and the flash would help, but in the hand is perhaps the best. The colour looks about right for 1950's the flash looks unworn.

Thanks mate!
I'll keep an eye on it and if it stays cheap I might go for it but as you say, the flash does look unworn. Tony |
