Time Capsule
At least Bosleys are keeping it all together as one lot, lets hope who buys it does not split it up for a profit.

Rob,
I agree that It would be criminal to split the lot but isn't the auctioneer in a very difficult position, the article states that the firm is of the opinion that the items would be worth far more if they were split up and sold individually - but the firm had decided to keep it altogether. Surely the auctioneer has a duty to get the best price for his client ? A rock and hard place situation. Peter

Auctioneers problem
PB,
I just wonder who will buy this lot, the fact that the auctioneer has said that it would make more split up is surely going to affect the price realised. The auction has had plenty of publicity as Bernard Pass wrote a great article for "The Armourer" as well as the Daily Mail's coverage and it is getting close to Armistice Day. Rob |

This should go to a museum.
I just hope whoever buys it doesn't split it up. Sometimes the inherent value of a lot is worth more than what the individual pieces might sell for, if not monetarily, than at least historically. What a find. Colin

Price attained
Well the estimate was £8,000 and it went for £8,800, so with the add-ons we are talking roughly £11,00 depending on where the buyer has it sent or if they collect.
A truly remarkable lot which I hope finds a good home and will be cared for and possibly (hopefully) displayed to the public. Rob |
