Default Kings Royal Hussars Gilt Badge

I have seen on a site that the black KRH badge is now obsolete and has been replaced by a gilt badge. Can anyone advise if this is so and when it occurred?

Many thanks
Chris

Chris - they certainly are obselete and the regt is wearing the gilt ones and has been for at least the last 2 years. I don't know exactly what year they did changeover I am afraid.

Does anyone have a spare one of these gilt ones by any chance? I'm chasing one.

Not sure when it changed, however the gold coloured badge is worn on the beret with the maroon backing, the black badge is still worn on the cap. The reason for the shortage of the gold coloured badges is the MoD assumed that it was to be worn in the cap, and as these are not worn very often only a few were made. There are a couple of web sites selling the badge, one of which has been mentioned on this forum.

The regt have a PRI shop and while they do not sell the ORs badge they do stock a SNCOs badge. how it differs, I have no idea!

The gallery does show black badges in No 1 dress caps and gilt in berets.
