Default Lee Metford Mk2 bayonet markings

Hi All,

I picked this up in Cape town about 15 years ago, i don't know much about it, i can tell it was made in nov 1899 but thats about it, it has many markings, the one on the pommel has CG with a up turned MOD arrow in the middle , is that a unit mark?? Coldstream guards?? or makers mark, any help would be great

Thanks

The bayonet is identical to one I have; different markings except for the CG which stands for Cape Government. I picked mine up in Bulawayo, also about fifteen years ago.

Regards,

John
