Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Yeomanry cap and collar badges
I have just acquired these anodised cap and collar badges ( cap badge slider marked J.R. Gaunt London ).
The person I bought the badges from seemed to think they were very scarce. Was he right ? Thanks P.B.

The cap badge isn't rare at all ,£8 to £12 sort of rare. As for the collars, im pretty sure that they are still worn. But im not 100% sure that the collars are to the cap badge. Also they don't look like a matched pair.
The cap badge is to the Beds and Herts TA regt, where the collars are to the Herts and Beds Yeo. Whether the TA regt wore the same collars as the Yeomanry I don't know. Last edited by Mike H; 19-02-15 at 07:03 PM. |

Thanks Mike,
I rather thought I was being told a tale. Peter

The collar badges were (are) worn by members of 201 (Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire Yeomanry) Parachute Battery Royal Artillery. Soon (if not already gone) to be placed in suspended animation as part of the 'miniaturisation' of the British Army.

"The Hertfordshire Yeomanry Regiments, Royal Artillery" part 2 by J. D. Sainsbury, show your collars worn with the standard Royal Artillery cap badge.

I should have added that they were approved for wear by 201 Battery in July 1968.

Sounds like the collars are starting to become "special forces " items on E bay.
( only joking ) P.B.

To answer your question, yes.
Unfortunately I don't have any, but they are in "History of the British Army Infantry Collar Badge" by C. Churchill (526, 527 and 528) |
