Interesting to note that in the first photograph of Minden Day of the 4 badges we can see - at least three are different. With 2 definite variations of the KOSB badge on view. Cheers Mark |

Mark, the first on the left (just noticed) is a REME badge. Now, you know how we feel,on this side of the pond, when we see different patterns of badge that are not strictly "by the book".

The REME one is the correct badge for a soldier attached to the KOSB Light Aid Deatchment. Being attached personnel they wear the Scottish headress but retain their own cap badge. Some attached personnel wear only a few items of the regt's dress that they are attached to, while I have seem some attached personnel completely decked out in cavalry or infantry uniform less their cap badge!
The nearest soldier, I presume an officer, appears to have a silver QVC pre1901 cap badge on. I know of at least one other Officer who was wearing a QVC badge on their amlgamation! Alan |

That's amazing Alan. I think a previous thread had discussed the KOSB's being a 'family regiment' wearing their father's and grandfather's badges. Well that would make it possibly a great great grandfather's.......
Interesting photo Jo. Mark |

The chap in photo # 2 lost the lion on his badge, so now he's wearing a crown instead of the crest. Does that explain the worried look?

Because they weren't issued with one of those dainty little badges?
