59th and 69th Anti-tank regiments
My father and an uncle both served in the 6th TA regiment of the Hampshires.
The regiment was converted to the 59th and 69th Anti-tank regiments of the RA in 1937. Has anyone any information as to where these regts. served etc. |

For starters:
59 ATk Regt served in 43 (Wessex) Inf Div - served in NW Europe 1944-45 69 ATk Regt served, logically enough, in 45 Inf Div (the duplicate of 43 (Wessex) Inf Div - a UK-based training formation It is possible that these two units wore some item of insignia to mark their roots in 6 Hampshires, but I don't know what this might have been. |

Thank you both. The reason I asked the question is that my uncle did go over on the invasion of Normandy but my father wore ribbons for North Africa (Africa Star) and Italy (Italy Star) I know that they could have been in different Regiments but how did one get to N. Africa and Italy - The Regiment didn't. Help please.
