1st Kings Dragoon Badge
Hey Guys,
I stumbled across this badge being a 1st Kings Dragoon badge which is hallmarked on the rear. Ill attach photo's of it. Ive gotten from the hallmark that it is stirling silver made in Birmingham in 1937 by J R Gaunt and Sons. The owner of the badge was Mjr J BIRKETT, am i right in believing this is jsut a colar badge I was just wondering what this would be worth? Thanks Jon Last edited by JonHughes; 20-08-08 at 02:25 PM. |

1st KDG
Cavalry specialists with greater knowledge than myself may correct me but I suspect from the dimensions that it more akin to an NCOs (in this case Senior NCOs) arm badge. Having one with an indesputable hallmark is quite something. Regards. David

Hi the HM is Birmingham in 1947 NOT 1937 and as for an arm badge at 3 by 3 1/2 ins its the to big it should be in silver 41.6mm by 37.8mm and in WM 42.1mm by 36.9mm lugs on both E-W

This badge is the 1938 pattern Officer's hallmarked silver collar badge, for wear with service dress (see pic). As Peter correctly states, it is hallmarked 1947.
Sadly for you; it is not the arm badge because if it were, you would be a very happy man! I have sent you a 'private message' with some more detail. Howard |
