Middle Wallop
Having driven past on many occasions I decided, as I was sans child, to drop into the the museum of Army Flying at Middle Wallop via a brisk tab around Danebury Hill fort in the lashing rain. Both are worth a visit for quite different reasons.
The museum is £8 and I gift aided mine. Inside it is a little discontinuous but it kind of works in a very homely way. Starts off with lots of good REs and RFC stuff and loads of photos with badges.
There are also some significant collections on the walls in various places. One looked like a thingy mint collection somewhere around 1970 something.
In amongst all of this were/are lots of Denison smocks, Glider Pilot Regiment cap badges, shoulder titles and Airborne flashes. Some of you guys would be dribbling quietly.
So, turn off the A303 and dive in.
