Default Northumberland Hussars Badges

My motley assortment of Northumberland Hussars Badges. Missing the early type without the Boer war battle honour scroll, and the anodised type which was produced in king’s and queen’s crown versions.

It is a very rare badge, I did see one a couple of years ago well in excess of £100.

yes I cannot recall seeing one or copies which is good. if it wasn't for the other difference (a strap on the circlet on the old badge) I am sure someone would be cutting the scrolls off the later badge to make it an old one!!!

Default Northumberland Hussars Imperial Yeomanry

Got this one years ago, got another on E bay for £15. Have seen the same badge on lists for a £100.You'll notice the garter belt, castle and lettering differ from the standard other ranks badge, however as shown by the administrators officers service dress it would be possible to snap the battle honor off and make an imperial version. Regards Sean.

Default Semi voided N.H. badge

I was told the owner of this badge served as a farrier with the N.H. in the 1930's. This should open a good debate about voids in badges particularly the 3rd County of London. Notice the unvoided section at the top of the castle

Too right, anyone want to take up the debate on the 3rd CoL? As for the NH I've always found the Gaunt (as attached) versions tend to have a void above the scroll so there must be more than one maker. Does anyone have a branded example with no void?

Default Northumberland Hussars voided badges

Turned this one up recently, this time with the side of the keep unvoided, also a better photo of the non void at the top of the keep. Cheers Sean.

Here's the 2 collars that came with it, I take it these are 2 right handed collars ?? Plus one that I think somebody had a go at making !!! Looks to have been cast from the mould of a butchered OSD as mentioned in a previous thread. Wilf.

Default Hallmarked silver KK1431.

Good evening.

There is also a version of KK1431 hallmarked Birmingham 1945/6, manufactured by Gaunt carrying their usual JRG&S maker`s mark. Presumably worn by 102 Anti-Tank Rgt. R.A. (The Northumberland Hussars) (TA). See Litchfield. `The Territorial Artillery. 1908-1988` Pub. The Sherwood Press. 1992. Pp.196. Fig 247.

I am only aware of a single example, acquired by private purchase. I have no record of such an item being offered at auction in the last 35 years. It presently sits on my desk.

I trust that is helpful

S.T.
