Default Soldier DCM and MM awards

Hi all!
i am trying to research a soldier called Charles Henry Tattersall. He served in The Manchester Regiment 1921-1923.He was then transferred to The Border Regiment (no. 17761). later he was in the 13th Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment. Whilst he was in the Border Regiment he was awarded a Distinguished Conduct Medal, the Italian Diploma, Italian Medal Militare (bronze). I want to know what he did to gain these awards. Can anyone tell me the best way of finding out these details please?
Barry

MM Labour Corps LG 9/4/1918.
MM 2nd Battalion Border Regiment LG 29/11/1918

It appears he won an MM and Bar during WW1.

Can find no trace of other awards.

He hailed from Wigan.

The MM is particulary difficult to research as the original citations were destroyed by Hitlers bombs. The best way to establish what the awards are for is to consult the local Wigan Newspaper and the War Diary for the unit (which three times out of ten mentions MM winners).

The Labour Corps is almost impossible to research, as many of its units kept no records.

Default More info

Thanks Lee and JJ! I have his original card telling him his awards are available, you are right he lived in Pemberton, Wigan. The card was from Fulwood Barracks, Preston. His relatives live next door to me. His ribbons are with the paper materials but unforunately not the actual medals. They do not know anything about why he received the awards, hence my attempt at research.
