Hello Didier,
First, what is the size of this insignia? That will give an indication of what it is. Obviously it is for a fire department. The castle is the insignia of the US Army Corps of Engineers which provides the fire fighting units in the US Army. The 27, I assume, is the identifying number of the unit, either a platoon or a company. The fact that is is a fire department indicates to me that this is/was not a tactical unit but one assigned to a station or post. Arthus Bertrand Paris is a jeweler in Paris which leads me to believe that the unit was located on the continent when this was made. V. M. P. could stand for Veteran's Memorial Park but that doesn't quite make sense to me if the unit was in France. My French isn't good enough to guess what this could stand for in French. The shape of this badge is not the usual shape I associate with US unit insignia but locally made badges come in a wide variety. Could you show the back? Not a definite identification but I hope this information is helpful. Regards, Don

Hi, Vegetation Management Program? It's where they create fire breaks, I think or just clear areas so they won't burn. Mike
