Default Mystery RAF buckle

Hi, I am wondering if anyone can throw light on this buckle, which may possibly be WAAF or Sweetheart considering the decorative manufacture. It is 1 1/2" x 1 1/4" and the loop is designed to take a 1" strap. Nickel silver with gilded copper crest. Thanks. GTB

Looks like a keepsake or sweetheart as you say. The eagle looks like it may have been cut from a button, Kevin

Kevin,
Brilliant observation. The size tallies with the large-size tunic button; only thing different appears to be the metal, which appears more coppery than the normal brass buttons. Any gilding has long gone. I was thinking that it could probably have belonged to a WAAF's or lady's wartime handbag. Thanks for inpot. GTB

I'd agree, a keepsake or present, definately not a uniform item.
