Nancy Wake AC GM (FANY) Dies aged 98
With sadness that Australia's highest decorated servicewoman Nancy Wake AC GM, a former Captain in FANY and a member of SOE

Such a shame. Still she had a great life.
A very brave and delightful woman. Who wasn't full of her self importance. Though she gladly signed my copy of Russel Braddon's book, she couldn't comprehend why on Earth I'd want her too.. |

What an amazing woman. She must be one of the last ones to go. We shall not see her like again. I think it was the daily gin-and-tonics that kept her going so long. Lucky you, Tyneside Irish for getting your book signed. David

My wife emailed me the link to this story (before I spotted it here). It always amazes me just how brave some of these young ladies were, the 'greatest' generation is no understatement.
It also reminds me just how important our passion of collecting is, often the story behind the artifact has been long lost but whatever military item we collect and from whatever period, even if unidentified, it all helps to preserve the history of truly wonderful and courageous 'ladies' and gentleman who served their countries so well. With gratitude for our hard won freedom, Roy.
