Default Essex Regiment Sweetheart Badge

Found with a metal detector in my local field. Fairly poor nick but I was wondering if it's a common example or a scarce rarity?

Tony,

In my experience, sweetheart brooches seem to be particularly abundant items. That said, it is not until you go looking for a specific example that you really get a good idea of how unusual or hard to come by, a particular design might be.

Recently, I had been looking for a specific Royal Norfolk Regiment sweetheart brooch, but just could not track one down. Eventually one came my way, but I have only ever seen one other example for sale within a period of about eighteen months prior to this, even though I believe the general design to be common to many regiments (see below).

If anyone has, or knows of other brooches to the Royal Norfolks, of this design which are for sale, I would be very grateful if they could perhaps let me know.

Regards,

Peter.

That's a lovely badge Peter. Wouldn't mind one of those for my collection.

Maybe there's a book specifically about sweetheart badges. I only have the one but it's an area I wouldn't mind exploring further.
