Default Unknown Crown Badges in A/A

Hi Guys,

These were kindly given to me by a forum member.

The crows themselves measure approx. 14.40mm wide by 15.15 mm high.

Weight approx. 1.50 grams.

They have not been broken from other badges and seem to be in excellent, unused condition.

Made by Gaunt probably 1966 or before.

Regards

Chris

Anything to do with the Royal Marines badges?

Of course not, they use the Royal Crest, not just a crown, (jumping the gun again).

Hi Bob,

Can you supply images of the lower part or of both parts in use together.

Regards

Chris

For the early two part badge the slider on the crown is stepped from the crown becoming thinner so that it can be pushed through the lugs on the Jimmy.

Hi 54Bty,

Oh, that one.

Isn't the crown gold though?

Regards

Chris

Yes it is very gold, but that is the only two part Sigs badge I have with a slidered crown.

Your crowns may even be colonial (can we still say that?)!

Hi 54Bty,
I was very interested to see the rear of your early Signals badge, have never come across this type of badge fitting before, will keep my eyes open for one of those .
Regards Tony.

Hi Chris,
I know you thought these were not off of broken badges but they look a bit like Army Physical Training Corps badges with the crossed swords snapped off to me?

Best Regards

Hi 54Bty,

The Colonial Office did I believe administer some badges to overseas military units but information is hard to find.

Regards

Chris

Beat me to the draw!

I had a 'badge' exactly the same abt fifteen years ago. Took me abt two years to realize what it was. Easy ID is just one of the benefits of the British & Commonwealth Military Badge Forum, I guess.
