Default Declaration of Peace 1919 medallion

Hi All,
I'd like to share this medallion arrived today. Issued by the Glasgow Corporation for the Peace Celebrations in 1919. No doubt there are many similar medallions of other cities.
This one is in silver and I believe most were in bronze.
Cheers, Tinto

Default Peace 1919

I have one of these which does not have a ribbon, just a pin back hanger. I have always wondered why they chose 1919 instead of 1918, I suppose this is due to Britains involvement in Russia fighting the Bolshevics, does anyone have any other thoughts?

Yes it something like that, the fighting didn't stop untill 1919 in certain places, some war memorials are either 18 or 19 depending on when the last oldier was killed.

Hi All,
The Peace Treaty was signed at Versailles on June 28, 1919, and as Magpie has said, the national peace celebrations took place on Saturday, July 19, 1919. The day was declared a Bank Holiday.
Cheers, Tinto
