RAF arm band
Can anyone help with the identification of this arm band please. The badge is obviousley an officers f/s cap badge and it has been there a long time.
Thanks Graham. Last edited by graham; 19-05-10 at 08:33 PM. |

A guess, but as it is Red White and Blue could it have been worn by RAF Officers at pre-WW2 airshows like the Empire Air Day at RAF Hendon (North London)?

RAF Armband
The Imperial War Museum has a sealed pattern red/white/blue armband like this which is dated 1938 and identified as Armlets, Recruiter. Stores Ref 22H/399. It does not have the eagle.

Armlets - Recruiter
I have seen two of these previously, one being a sealed pattern without an eagle and crown as per the one mentioned at the IWM and another armband like the one Graham illustrates that appeared for sale a few years back which did have an eagle and fitted. Although in that example the eagle and crown were fitted so that the blue band was at the bottom.
