Default Eidelweiss ??

This came with a lot of DoW and Yorkshire Volunteer badges. Is it recognisable or just a souvenir of a skiing trip? Grateful for any input. There is a Malayan connection.

French Army 159th Alpine Infantry Regiment.

Should be a makers mark on the back which may help date it. There are a few online resources/fora for French Insignia which may help you further.

To find this on on the linked site.

On the left hand side find and click on "CATALOGUE" In the white background pop up box that appears towards the bottom of the screen click on "INFANTRIE" on the box that appears to the right click "TOUS" Then in the field that appears to the right again under the title "AFFINEZ VOTRE RESEARCH" type in "159" and click on "RESEARCHEZ"

You will find several versions

I tried to add the link to the entry directly but with no luck.

Wikipedia entry here in French ,
