Cavalry Badges 1914 Done.
Finally, I've manage to get together a collection of 1914 Cavalry cap badges, they all look genuine to me.
Any corrections are welcome. Cheers Tony.

An expensive undertaking these days, from a brief glance at the photographs, I think that both your KDG and Chambermaids are rather more Anglo Boer War than Great War, very nice indeed.

Hello Tony
I agree with franks post re KDG & 14H, I also suspect your 2DG's to be post WWI. However, all the others look fine congratulations on your achievement. Out of interest how long did it take you? Cheers Rob

Thanks to everyone for the comments so far.
Paul yes they will look great framed, Frank and Rob I agree with comments regarding KDG and 14H, at a stretch I would like to think a few of these were still in use. Rob the 2DG, would it be the makers mark that makes this one a later type? I've been seriously going for this set for about 3 years now, reckon I had a start of around ten genuine ones collected on and off over the past 40 years. Cheers Tony.

Well done ! As a schoolboy I baulked at the cost of collecting 1914 cavalry badges - many were over 10/- !!! so I just did the infantry. It should be possible to make a similar list of 1914 types as I did for the infantry, I might look into that - but don't hold your breath.

Tony,
well done and quite an achievement! I don't want to "P**s on your chips", but you may want to post an image the 20H on it's own please.. The two horizontal bars which join the "X's" to the "H" should be the same thickness, on most fakes the right bar as viewed is noticeably thinner! .. and does the 19H have a hairpin slider? Best Regards Andy |

Andy, not pi55ing on my bonfire as we say round here!
All advice welcome. See this link http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ctureid=103455 Reckon this may need replacing! Indeed the 19H has a hairpin slider as does the 18H . Cheers Tony.
