The 39th Dorsetshire Regiment of Foot Collar Badges

Other ranks in gilding metal. A wide castle with two prominent circular towers. In the centre a doorway with small turret and flag above. Beneath the castle a key and a scroll inscribed ‘Primus in Indis’.
To the reverse two copper loops east-west.

Pattern sealed 1877. Not worn in facing pairs. ‘Primus in Indis’ was a unique battle honour for the regiment being awarded for bravery at the battle of Plassey in 1757.
