Pattern sealed 1947. A smaller version of the cap badge for wear on the beret: A field gun pointing left with a scroll inscribed ‘Ubique’ and an Imperial crown above. Beneath a scroll inscribed ‘Quo Fas et Gloria Ducunt’.
These are, width x height:
OSD 35.6mm x 29.3mm
Gilt: 45.7mm x 35mm
Other ranks: 45.3mm x 35.1mm
I have not come across a bronze Beret badge before, and who in the Royal Regiment of Artillery was wearing a beret in 1936?
Marc
Hi Marc, sorry about that error -I’ve corrected the date to ’47. Not sure about the ‘bronzed’ badge- is it a lemon?
I have never seen any Bz beret badges or found any documents about one. It might be Australian.
The ORs brass beret badge with Slider and lugs was Sealed in Oct 1947, it was worn from c1948-c1954, at some time the lugs were removed with no change in Catalogue number, The QC version was Introduced in Jan 1954 and worn from then on it was still beings worn after the aa badge came in.
The Officers KC version in gilt was worn from c 1948-c1954 slider and lugs, the QC version came in during January 1977 and worn till 1995.

Hi Marc, thanks for that, very helpful. I’ll add a warning about the bronze item into the page.
Hi, my name is David, I have a Royal Artillery cap badge complete with a split pin or slider (not sure what it is called),it was made by Dowler,Birmingham. This is stamped into the back clip. I think it maybe WW1 but looking on line there seems to be no difference between that and WW2 badges of the same regiment.
Is it possible to tell the difference ? I found it while clearing my mum’s house and thought it may have belonged to her father but it turns out he was in the Notts & Derby regiment during WW1. My dad was I believe in the Desert Rats in Germany after WW2 for his National Service, so not his. Maybe it could have been his father’s but I will have to do more research.
Can anybody help please ?
