Other ranks in die-struck white metal. A wide oval shamrock wreath closed at the top with a Victorian crown. In the centre the Irish winged-maiden harp. On the lower part of the wreath a scroll inscribed ‘Roscommon’.
This badge is much copied. Reproductions are often cast and lack detail. Original badges have the typical fine detail of Victorian badges, for example with this badge expect to see structure within the individual feathers of the wing, and the pearls/sequins on the maiden’s dress are clear lines of small spheres visible on both sides of the badge – the reverse of the badge being just as detailed as the front.
