A scalloped edge with a horizontally lined field. In the centre a double headed eagle with a bell in its right claw.
This example in gilt brass, 23.6mm diameter, backmark: ‘J.R. Gaunt & Son Ltd. London Engd’.
The Roman double headed eagle is from the arms of Lanark Burgh, the symbol originating from the roman occupation of the area. The handbell, ‘St Mungo’s Bell’ symbolises St. Kentigern (or St Mungo’s), the ancient parish church of Lanark.
