Default Identification of Polish item needed

I would appreciate any opinions on this enamelled badge which I think is Polish. It is unknown to me, though since I am only a novice in this field, that might not mean much. It is approximately 1 inch across and is well marked on the reverse. I have included one image with a 50p piece for comparison of size. It is of the screwback type.
Thanks,
Peter.

yes, it is Polish, and i guess that 5 BP stands for 5th Infantry Battalion (5-ty Batalion Piechoty), but I'll have to check it out...

Hello Peter. According to my source, this is the badge of the 1st Brigade of the Polish Armed Forces, worn c.1917.
The Poles organized as the Polish Legion under Pilsudski, joined the Germans as an independent unit to fight the Russians. This badge was awarded to officers who served in this unit.

Cheers
Jo

Thanks Loupie1961 and Jo and please accept my apologies for the delay in replying. I wonder if the 5th Infantry Battalion was part of the1st Brigade ?
Peter.

The best advice that I can give you is to try to locate an history of the brigade for the period 1919-1920 or something about the campaign against the russian.
Cheers
Jo
