UK colour wings
Dear all, my other thread didn't make it, only logical, not enough explanation. Here's the second edition. I'm trying to determine the correct identifications of UK coloured wings. A part of my collection is on this picture. Here are the identifications I have at this moment. If they're incorrect, please let me know.
1. Light Infantry 2. Rifle brigade 3. Parachute Regiment officers 4. Junior Para Company 5. The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) 6. The Cameronians (Scottish Rfiles) 7. Royal Irish Rangers (piper green) 8. 59 Independent Commando Squadron Royal Engineers 9. Royal Artillery 10. Royal Irish Rangers 11. Intelligence Corps 12. 2 KEO Gurkha Rifles 13. 2 Grenadier Rifles 14. Royal Army Pay Corps (primerose yellow) 15. Royal Navy & Royal Marines 16. Royal Marines 17. Royal Army Dental Corps (emerald green) 18. Light Infantry (maize) 19. Small Arms School (slate grey) 20. Corps of Transport, Light Dragoons, Queens Royal Lancers, Prince of Wales Yorkshire Regiment 21. Catering Corps, Intelligence Corps (grebe grey) 22. Parachute Regiment, Royal Army Veterenary Corps, Kings Royal Hussars, Royal Army Medical Corps (maroon) 23. Army Air Corps (cambridge blue) Any help is most welcome. Cheers, Alain

Makes sense, have just googled their N°1 dress ... and also found a picture of the wing :-). Thanks Mike

No 4, or something very much like it was worn by the DWR. It was supposedly phased out in the 80s but was still being worn well into the 90s according to a former colleague (I posted pics of his 1 dress cap a while ago) who was still at school in the 80s but wore them on both SDs and woolly pully into the late 90s.

Could it be that you're mixing it up with the red mess dress? The one shown on my picture is the larger one, for what I think is N°2 dress. I could be wrong however.

Often attributed to LI or London Irish but have seen no hard evidence for either. 8 - Never heard of this attribution before. I have always assumed these were subdued variants of the standard wing. Additional information welcomed. 11 - Not aware of any evidence for common attribution to the Intelligence Corps. Happy to be corrected though. A well padded example also exists on a darker green. These were listed as Rhodesian by Nicholas Morigi, in his catalogue, over 20 years ago. Neither type is Rhodesian. 12 - KRRC. 16 - RAF Tropical (Royal Marines Tropical are light blue and white on tan and Royal Navy dark blue on white) Best regards, Graham

Number 11 is not Intelligence Corps. Wings for No1 Dress should be full size on Cypress Green. Wing's for mess dress are smaller in bullion on grey backing possibly as number 21 but privately purchased so many variations.

The wing however has exactly the same backgroundcolour as the shouldertabs you show AND the lightbulb
