But Bill, I just had 57,000 of these Thomas Fatorini plaques made up (the Gaunt ones just weren't doing the trick anymore)! And everyone knows if it comes with a plaque from Birmingham, it's got to be good!

The worst of it, is that there is already more than one bidder. The "silver" plating on the lugs should be a dead giveaway....

Oh my, that badge looks horrid. It is based on the Officers pattern judging by the voided areas between the lines and wings. There also appears to be a large flaw in the "O" of Corps, also a smaller one in the "P" of Corps.

Further to these notes, the lugs are very sloppily applied, as if repaired at one time.... of which I read no such statement from the seller.

That's not all Bill. In the description the seller says...." GENUINE BADGE OWNED BY ME FOR MANY YEARS", and...."MAY BE SILVER"....lastly... "MAY BE A PRIVATE PURCHASE".
So, with all this, no wonder an unsuspecting or ignorant buyer might fall for this kind of c**p.......

There are 2 identical badges on the first page of ebay listings which is dubious in itself, both from Australia which is enough to steer you clear of them, both with too low a opening bid from the same fellow & they are still biding on them.

The vendor may very well have "privately purchased" the badge "many years" ago...

Price realized, $330 US. This badge will now become part of the lore of the Cdn Para Corps badges. Someone paid way too much for something so dubious.
Even with all the research and information out there, many collectors will not avail themselves and find what is authentic and what is not.

What recession? More money than sense. It must have been a real 'must have' item. I know the feeling but have tried hard to temper my collecting with a modicum of common sense.

Concerning this badge, as P.T.Barnum is supposed to have said about....one born every minute....in this case there are nine who got caught. In fact we should pity the poor b*****d who probably spent some good money on a piece of scrap metal.

Hello Simon et al, The Canadian Parachute badge comes in three basic varieties, the brass issue cap, (like yours Simon), a plastic issue, and an officer's issue. The authentic brass badges sell for at least $300 US retail. The plastic badges are much more, and the officer's example just sold for $860 US.
