Hi Stephen,

I can't help on the letters/numbers etc but Madeley is a small town in Shropshire. The farm I grew up on was just a few miles aways and my step-dad was from Madeley, so as a youngster I have been through it more times than I care to mention.

I'm assuming it's the same Madeley of course but hope this helps.

Cheerio and good luck,

Roy

Your bracelet is a WW2 privately purchased civilian identity bracelet popular as a means of identification in case of injury.

The numbers are E I Buckley's unique National Registration number which appeared on their identity card. The letters indicate the area they were living in when Identity Cards were issued in 1939.

The letters OTML are from a series issued by Newcastle-under-Lyme Rural District Council and Madeley is, according to my gazetteer 'a parish and a village with a railway station 5 miles WSW of Newcastle-under-Lyme'.

Thank you very much I have passed on the information to granddaughter of original owner she is really pleased.

Honestly I was stumped but no seems so obvious is their a web sight for researching the number codes?

Yes, an online source for researching these codes would be great.

I have a number of identity cards that I would like to look into.
