8th King's Royal Irish Hussars - Post WW2 collars
Hi Folks,
I'm trying to ascertain what collar badges were worn by the 8th King's Royal Irish Hussars from 1953 to 1958. Did QC collars exist for the regiment? Or did they continue to wear the KC version? Mick

Mick
this should help, from Bernard Cox, The Dress Distinctions of the VIII King's Royal Irish Hussars as Worn at the time of the Amalgamation of the Regiment in 1958 by Langridge's Military Publications 1959 The book is oversized and not easy to scan to fit A4 or Letter. John |

The last two posters are right, clutch fittings would not have been used on 1950's Imperial collar badges.
As you see from Cox's notes when he visited the regiment to survey the insignia worn it appears that only the Officer's collar badges were in use with the QC , they in bronzed OSD and silver plate & gilt. According to his notes, the other ranks badges do not appear to have been issued with a QC before the regiment amalgamated. You need to look for these material of constructions (bronzed OSD or silver/plate & gilt) with either two loops or the single flat loop that was introduced under LC4483 of 01/03/1951 , although I am not certain that the flat would have applied to officer's badges before the regiment ceased to be. 3748 Hussar should be able to guide us.
