Default Swiss Army,1951.

Some photographs of the Swiss Army, showing the uniforms and badges worn at the time in 1952. Somewhat informative.

Excellent, Jo -- really interesting. I have a Swiss sergeant of Engineers' greatcoat from roughly this period, so it's great to see the insignia in situ, so to speak. Thank you!

Hi, the Swiss are extremley frugal. I knew some Swiss guys in the 90's and when they were conscripted they managed to get some of their equipment away. the greatcoat and much of the equipment was 1943, 44 dated, including the helmet!!

A rash of Swiss gear appeared in Australian Army surplus stores over the last couple of decades, some of it with quite early dates. The same occurred with Swedish stuff.
