He was a commanding officer of the 13th Light Horse during WW1.

This is a post war uniform.

* No Slick_Mick this is actually Pre WW1 portrait of Col G.H Dean whilst he was serving in the Sth Aust Militia forces. Note the CAFLSM ribbon and he enlisted with the rank of HON-COL into the 1st A.I.F.
The uniform is classic Pre WW1 senior Militia Officer dress NOT post WW1.
