R.H.C.
Hi Guys,
I am doing some work on anodised aluminium cap badges and looking at the List Of Changes for Nov 1951. One unit under the title 'Other Services' is known as R.H.C. It has a CB number of 3153. Can anyone tell me who the R.H.C were (are). Regards Chris |

Royal Hospital Chelsea? The Chelsea Pensioners to the layman. The cap badge , collars and buttons were all issued in anodised alluminium, now obsolete as all are issued in brass. Only worn by about 18 permanent staff at the hospital, so fairly uncommon in their own right. The buttons are inscribed RCI for the original hospital title of 'Royal Company of Invalids' Regards all Bess |

The buttons on my dress coat are anodised aluminium, also on the waist coat, I will have to check the Blue coat. On my last visit I asked if there were any changes and informed that nothing had changed. It looks like I may have to ask again.

Marc, I received a set of everything from the then quartermaster (5 or 6 years ago now) at the RHC who informed me that they didnt issue anodised alluminium badges anymore and had changed to brass. The buttons may differ I suppose and no doubt the anodised 'residue' is still worn by some. I had lunch there last year and didnt notice who was wearing what! I'll be more vigilant next time! Nice cap badge collection in the museum. Regards Bess |
