Default For RCN.....

© IWM (FL 10052)HMCS CRUSADER.
HMCS Crusader was a C-class destroyer originally ordered by the Royal Navy in 1942 and transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy in 1946. During the Korean War she was the leading ship in the legendary Trainbuster's Club, destroying five North Korean trains in total. She was sold for scrap in 1964.

CmdRadioO Minton was promoted to Lieut, RCN 1 Jan 1965 & was pensioned form the CAF(N) on 4 Dec 1970.

He had entered the RCN on 10 may 1946 as a Ordinary Seaman Radio Artificer, was advanced to Radio Electrician, & Radio Technician, & finally Electronic Technician prior to being Commissioned.

Thanks for bringing back some old memories Voltigeur!

I recall very clearly, despite the passage of many years, HMCS Crusader sitting alongside the jetty at Point Edward Naval Base (HMCS Acadia, Sydney NS) in the early 1960's awaiting her fate prior to breakup. She was still being periodically emplyed for training young seaman & despite her age looked pretty good to my (at the time) very young eyes. I wish I had had the foresight then to snap a few shots of her! She was a beautiful ship indeed!

I will try to add a group representing HMCS Uganda in future,

I may have one for Bonaventure as well, have to have a look..........
