LIY Side cap (Officers)
Hi All
I have to vent my spleen a bit here..... sorry I saw an LIY Officers side cap for sale last year and wanted it...... I knew exactly what it was and by that I mean era of use. I even know who the Officer was that wore it. I now see it for sale on a dealers website with a huge mark up claiming its "Imperial"...... its not.... its national service. Its true value is between £80-£120. The Leicestershire PAO Yeomanry Officers wore a bullion "LIY" cap badge post Great War on their scarlet side Cap..... from 1898-1902 it was "LYC"..... from 1902-1908 it was "LIY" .....from 1908-15 it was a bulion "LY"...... from 1915-28 there is no record of its use until Col Codrington re established it as an "LIY" cypher. BUYERS BEWARE
