Default London Irish - Photo

Here's an interesting little find... white-metal (post-1923) cap bade, 47th London Div badge, and 'exploded' T/18/LONDON B/B shoulder title:

Regards to all.

It looks like a 4 part shoulder title which I don't think I have seen before.

( if you saw something like that for sale you might well think it was a made up item without this evidence of it being worn )

P.B.

Absolutely, Peter.

There must have been other units doing exactly the same thing too.

Default London Irish shoulder title

What a lovely photo of a London Irish shoulder title being worn in four parts, I have heard of these being worn with separate sans serif "T's", but I don't think I've ever seen any evidence of it being worn with separate figures as well.

I had a separate brass "8" a while back and dismissed it as a police item, I will have to look it out.

Thanks, Rob.

You really can't beat these old pictures - such a valuable resource.

Some time ago I posted that all the WWI shoulder titles were issued as separate items, with individual part numbers. Originally they were brazed together in the unit, later the titles were reissued complete, under new numbers.

Also the first pattern letter T which most people only associate with wear on the Great Coat.

Been trying to locate that, Marc. Are you able to link to it, at all?
