Two Formation Sign Badges for ID
Couple of badges for ID Chaps. LH badge had an old paper note stapled to it stating 44th Division but I'm not too sure of that?
What about our mistreated dolphin with a sword through it? familiar I feel but can't find a reference to it. I'm sure they are both a breeze to the cloth guys. |

Your second badge is that of 3 Port Task Force an Army Emergency Reserve (AER) formation whose role was to operate smaller ports or land stores and equipment over beaches in the event of a nuclear war damaging major ports. The sign which came in facing pairs, was authorised in September 1957. The photo shows it worn with the badge of the RASC AER.
Four PTFs were formed but by 1959 had been reduced to three. The same badges was later worn briefly by the Port Task Force (V) created in the TAVR in 1967. Jo Last edited by Postwarden; 23-01-16 at 09:14 AM. |

Many thanks chaps. Most interesting. 'Port Task Force' is new to me.
[I think now the dolphin must be expertly navigating around the sword rather than being skewered by it! ] |
