Default London Rifle Brigade

Gents, a friend of mine purchased an old mills grenade box at a house clearence. Inside was an old stores type thick cardboard box. There were about a dozen of these London Rifle brigade badges inside of it. All very shiny and looking like new. Because of this I suspect they may be fakes. The metal is strong and does not bend. Any views please.

Cool LRB badges

Steve,

If they are fakes they are good ones, they look OK to me, but I am no expert.

The only reason I thought they may be is they look pristine, but they have been in a box!

Kind regards

Steve.

Cool Pristine badges

Steve,

The fact that there were a dozen in a box is probably why they look pristine, I have had badges that were stored in cardboard boxes for sixty plus years that were in pristine condition.

Here's one I've got up on eBay, note the die flaw above "RIF" which is not that clear in your images.

Hello Andy,

I have two badges of that design, one with the flaw and one without, does it have to have the flaw to be genuine ??

Dave.

I think I am going to regret this but they say that a picture paints a thousand words ??

These are also due to be part of my new Rifle related and Rifle Brigade collection, I now have a sinking feeling in my stomach !!!

Dave,
relax, both are fine, the point I was trying to make is that the "lugged" badges tend to have the flaw, there are of course other genuine strikes.

Cheers Andy,

I didn't have the unvoided version with the battle honours, I do now.

Take care.

Dave.

Andy,
Yes there is a flaw just above 'F'.

FMT600,
I'll speak to him Monday if he is in work, I would think so.

regards

Steve

Ladies and gents,
My collegue not collecting these things has asked me to dispose of them on his behalf. I have 55 of these badges and will be listing them on the 'classifeds' section. Attached are pictures of the box they came in. Ive shaken out all the old bits of 4 X 2 and GS buttons etc. I have told him what dealers are selling them for and he has set a price that he wants.

Looking on the bright side for collectors flooding the market with these should bring the price of the badge down a bit for a while.
