Lovely photo!

How sad it is that we now must refer to so many of these soldiers as "unknown"

I imagine that a lovely hand tinted photo like that would have long held pride of place on some mother's dressing table or lounge room mantle piece.

There used to be so many of them about.....where have they all gone? I guess the way of the soldiers they pictured.
